Cristina Iglesias

Cristina Iglesias, born in November 1956, lives and works in Madrid. She studied chemistry before training at Chelsea School of Art in London and is regarded as one of the most influential contemporary sculptors. Over more than four decades, Iglesias has developed an artistic language at the intersection of sculpture, architecture, and nature. Working in materials such as bronze, steel, glass, and water, she creates large-scale works that often relate to the history of a site.

Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation

The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation was founded in 2019 and has presented a work of art every year since its inception, with the long-term goal of establishing a permanent world-class sculpture park in the Rosendal area on Royal Djurgården. Cristina Iglesias work Aurora Borealis Star Dome is the seventh work in the collection.

Children’s Walpurgis – Music, Choral Singing and a Children’s Bonfire

Location: Sollidenplan, 17:00–18:00 (the small bonfire is lit at 17:30)

New this year is Children’s Walpurgis – an earlier and slightly calmer celebration designed for our youngest guests. Here, children and adults can experience Walpurgis together in a format suited to children’s rhythm and evening routines. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase on site.

The programme begins at 17:00 with music and traditional choral singing of classic Walpurgis songs. At 17:30, the smaller spring bonfire is lit, and the celebration concludes at 18:00.

Children’s Walpurgis is especially suitable for children aged approximately 3–9 – and for anyone who would like to welcome spring before it gets too late in the evening.

Traditional Walpurgis Celebration – Spring Speech, Choral Singing, Music and Bonfire

Location: Solliden Stage, 20:30–22:00 (the bonfire is lit at 21:00)

In the evening, the traditional Walpurgis celebration continues at the Solliden Stage. The programme features a traditional spring speech, choral singing and musical entertainment before the large bonfire is lit at 21:00. As the flames rise and the songs of spring echo across Djurgården, the special Walpurgis atmosphere is created – one that has made the celebration at Skansen a cherished tradition for generations.

The exhibition has been developed by the Australian National Maritime Museum in collaboration with the Avatar Alliance Foundation. Visitors can explore the ocean depths through Cameron’s underwater cameras and extraordinary technological innovations, and experience some of the least explored and most unknown deep-sea environments.

“When I watched all the great ocean explorers on TV in the 1960s, I was captivated by that alien world here on Earth. I couldn’t imagine anything more powerful or more exotic.”
So says James Cameron himself in the exhibition, which has so far been seen by over one million visitors in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Canada. The Vasa Museum will be the first venue in Europe to present the exhibition.

James Cameron – Challenging the Deep is a temporary exhibition and will be on view at the Vasa Museum from 4 March 2026 to 30 September 2027.

Kvällen bjuder på underhållning med livemusik som andas både fest och nostalgi! Mellan kl. 23.25-00.15 livesänds firandet från Sollidenscenen i SVT Play och SVT1.

Skådespelaren och regissören Helena Bergström får i år det traditionstunga uppdraget att läsa Lord Alfred Tennysons dikt Nyårsklockan.

Nyårsfirandet programleds av Linnea Wikblad och André Pops och Johan Granströms orkester ackompanjerar kvällens artister. Medverkande artister är Tommy Körberg, Charlotte Perrelli, Greczula, Fanny Avonne och Tensta Joyful Noise.

A warm welcome to Handarbetets Vänner School’s annual Christmas market and open house on Djurgården in Stockholm.

Shop for Christmas gifts and enjoy craft art and Advent treats in the historic atmosphere of our pink house on Djurgården.

On November 29 from 10:00–16:00, you’ll have the chance to buy this year’s Christmas gifts made by the school’s students. Fika will be available for purchase, and new this year is that the Christmas market will be held in the Handarbetets Vänner Gallery.

Open House

During the day, Handarbetets Vänner School will open the doors to the classrooms where the next generation of textile and craft artists are trained. Students and teachers will be on site to give tours and talk about our three full-time textile programs: Advanced Textile Craft Education, Textile Craft Foundation Year – Weaving, and Textile Craft Foundation Year – Sewing, as well as our short courses in a wide range of textile craft techniques.

Taste Swedish Wine and Cider

Over the course of a year, food and beverage journalist Per Styregård has visited and documented Swedish beverage farms together with photographer Erik Olsson. In Made in Sweden, they shape a story about hard work, craftsmanship, and passion among Swedish winemakers and cider producers.

The exhibition’s beverage dispensers offer visitors a unique opportunity to taste a wide range of Swedish wines and ciders. In recorded interviews with each producer, visitors can follow a journey where passion and craftsmanship meet.

Nordic Moments is presented across seven rooms. Where, themes, photographers, formats and eras shift and evolve in a series of temporary exhibitions. The first main theme Metamorphoses, invites you on a dreamlike journey through memory, time and chemical transformation.

Metamorphoses presents a selection of photographs that have undergone a visual transformation. When around 100,000 photo negatives were damaged by a water leak, a major rescue effort was launched to preserve, restore and digitise them. But in the process, something unexpected happened: new images began to emerge.
