The exhibition ‘Visions’ by Katarina Löfström

Katarina Löfström’s video art and sculptural installations are far removed from the spoken and written word. With intense color fields or soft forms drawn from the sun-drenched surf aesthetics of the 1970s, she evokes dreamlike states without beginning or end in her video works. The animated films often emerge from meditative electronic music—a method she has adhered to since her time in the pop music world when she worked as a scriptwriter for video directors like Jonas Åkerlund. In the sculptural work “Open Source,” sparkling sequins dance to the rhythm of the wind while reflecting the changing landscape of Djurgården. The installation “Echo, echo, echo” is constructed from round light tubes on stands—a kind of halos for our time.
