Ghosts and Vikings, space adventures, mysteries, creativity, theatre, art and Halloween. During the autumn break, Djurg\u00e5rden comes alive with activities for both young and old.
\nHere at Royal Djurg\u00e5rden Visitor Center<\/a> we have gathered some of the highlights of the autumn break. Choose according to age and interests, or combine several experiences for a full day on Djurg\u00e5rden.<\/h3>\n

Space, technology & the secrets of the sea<\/h3>\n

Sj\u00f6historiska museet \u2013 create and play<\/a>
\nBuild, craft and create with a maritime theme in the Ruskpricken creative workshop. For the youngest visitors, Blubb is a playful underwater world for children aged 0\u20136. Free admission for children and young people up to the age of 19.<\/p>\n

During the autumn break, Sj\u00f6historiska also fills with sea ghosts, spirits and mysterious tales from the sea. Join a mildly spooky family tour featuring old legends and sailors\u2019 superstitions, listen to ghostly stories and set off on a creepy quiz walk through the museum. Keep your eyes open \u2013 something might be hiding among the ships and objects.<\/p>\n

Tekniska museet<\/a> \u2013 space adventures
\nReach for the stars! During the autumn break, space takes centre stage. Meet researchers, build and test your own space rocket and try space food. At Wisdome, the whole family can also enjoy immersive experiences that take you far beyond Djurg\u00e5rden.<\/p>\n

Ghosts, monsters & mysteries<\/h3>\n

Skansen<\/a> \u2013 autumn break & Halloween
\nSkeleton school, spooky stories, animal encounters and Halloween await at Skansen. On selected days, parts of the park are transformed with trick-or-treating, pumpkins, music and mildly spooky experiences for the whole family.
\nFree admission for children aged 0\u201315. A free child ticket must be booked.<\/p>\n

The Viking Museum<\/a> \u2013 Autumn break among Draugr and Monsters
\nCreatures from the Viking Age come to life! Go monster hunting, meet a draugr, a Viking Age zombie, and encounter a seeress, a v\u00f6lva.
\nFree admission for children under 15 when accompanied by an adult from 24 October.<\/p>\n

Vrak \u2013 Museum of Wrecks<\/a> \u2013 autumn break adventures
\nSet out on a ghost hunt through a darkened museum with a flashlight and take part in a major LEGO\u00ae marathon featuring marine archaeology-inspired building. There are also family tours and fascinating stories from the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

Nordiska museet<\/a> \u2013 Night at Nordiska museet
\nWhen the museum closes and the lights go out, the adventure begins. Join a dramatic and spooky evening tour among creatures from folklore and Swedish mythology.
\n27\u201328 October. From age 6. Advance booking and timed tickets required.<\/p>\n

Gr\u00f6na Lund<\/a> \u2013 Halloween
\nPumpkins, haunted houses, characters and rides \u2013 all of Gr\u00f6na Lund transforms for Halloween. Younger visitors can enjoy gentle scares and child-friendly areas, while braver guests can test much scarier experiences, including Sekten: Demonernas \u00e5terkomst.<\/p>\n

Puzzles, missions & discovery<\/h3>\n

Polismuseet<\/a> \u2013 be a police officer for a while
\nAutumn break challenges, fingerprints, police equipment and family tours await throughout week 44. Don\u2019t miss Polisliv, where children can, among other things, sit in a real police car.<\/p>\n

Every day during week 44:
\n12.30 & 14.30 \u2013 Polis, Polis: Ask questions and learn more about police equipment.
\n13.30 & 15.30 \u2013 Tjuv och Polis: Look, guess and feel police objects from the past. The tours are suitable for children aged 5 and over. Tickets are available from reception.
\nFree admission for children and young people under 19.<\/p>\n

Vasamuseet<\/a> \u2013 The Mystery Game Underg\u00e5ng
\nVasa and Titanic meet in an exciting time-travel mystery. Find clues and solve puzzles before the ships sink! The museum also offers family trails and other hands-on activities.

Riksidrottsmuseet<\/a> \u2013 autumn break with movement & sport
\nDiscover the history of sport, try interactive activities and visit Solskensolympiaden \u2013 a journey back in time to the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm.
\n27 October\u20131 November, 11 am\u20134 pm. Free admission for children and young people up to and including age 19.
\nMore details about the autumn break activities will be announced by the museum later.<\/p>\n

Paint, create & make a film<\/h3>\n

Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde<\/a> \u2013 a colourful autumn break
\nBe inspired by the new exhibition Den underbara f\u00e4rgen \u2013 G\u00f6teborgskoloristerna and create your own art. During the autumn break workshops on 27 and 29 October, the studio will be filled with colourful painting, while 28 October features L\u00e4slovspoesi, where children can write poems and paint with flowing acrylic colours. Advance booking is required for the autumn break activities.<\/p>\n

Thielska Galleriet<\/a> \u2013 make your own film
\nTake inspiration from art and try your hand at mobile filmmaking in a creative workshop for children aged 7\u201312, inspired by the aesthetic of Lars von Trier.

Snus- och T\u00e4ndsticksmuseum<\/a> \u2013 The Matchbox Workshop
\nSmall boxes become little works of art! Take inspiration from historic matchbox labels and design your own label in the Matchbox Workshop.
\nAdmission is included with a Skansen ticket.<\/p>\n

Stories, theatre & play for younger children<\/h3>\n

Junibacken<\/a> \u2013 a gently spooky reading break
\nTheatre, storytelling, play and the Story Train await at Junibacken. The reading break offers a gently spooky programme for the whole family.

Etnografiska museet<\/a> \u2013 Story Worlds
\nStep into a colourful world filled with stories, myths and fairy tales from different parts of the world. A playful exhibition particularly well suited to younger children.

The autumn break is also a perfect opportunity to discover some of Djurg\u00e5rden\u2019s major exhibitions \u2013 many of them are just as appealing to curious children and teenagers as they are to adults.<\/p>\n

ABBA The Museum<\/a> \u2013 NEW! Dancing Queen 50 years
\nOn 11 October, a brand-new exhibition opens celebrating 50 years of one of ABBA\u2019s most beloved songs. Follow Dancing Queen from its recording and legendary performance at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1976 to worldwide success and a song that continues to bring generations together.<\/p>\n

Vasamuseet<\/a> \u2013 James Cameron: Challenging the Deep
\nFollow filmmaker and explorer James Cameron into the depths of the ocean. Here, deep-sea exploration and filmmaking come together through material and objects connected to, among other things, Titanic and Avatar.

Vrak<\/a> \u2013 Vikings Before Vikings \u2013 last chance!
\nThe autumn break is the last opportunity to see the unique finds from Salme in Estonia and discover the story of the people who lived and died before the beginning of the traditional Viking Age.
\nThe exhibition closes on 1 November. Free admission for ages 0\u201318.<\/p>\n

Etnografiska museet<\/a> \u2013 Yokai: Japanese Spirits
\nMeet monsters, spirits and other supernatural beings from Japanese folklore, and discover how they live on in today\u2019s manga, anime and popular culture. Younger visitors can also enjoy Story Worlds.

Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde<\/a> \u2013 Den underbara f\u00e4rgen
\nDiscover the colourful world of the Gothenburg Colourists with bold hues, light and expressive painting. A great choice to combine with the museum\u2019s autumn break workshop.<\/p>\n

Thielska Galleriet \u2013 On the Shoulders of Others. Lars von Trier curates
\nFilm meets art as director Lars von Trier explores works from the Thielska Galleriet collection.<\/p>\n

Konsthall 16<\/a> \u2013 Mustang Queens
\nPhotographer Nadja Hallstr\u00f6m portrays encounters between people and horses, from a stable in Queens, New York, to the wild mustangs of the USA.<\/p>\n

Riksidrottsmuseet<\/a> \u2013 Solskensolympiaden
\nTravel back in time to the 1912 Stockholm Olympics and discover the people, competitions and stories behind the historic Games.

PREKS and Tekniska museet\/Wisdome<\/a> \u2013 Roof of Reflection
\nStep into an immersive 360\u00b0 experience where art, light, music and science come together. The work is inspired by Cristina Iglesias\u2019 art on Djurg\u00e5rden and was created in collaboration with Prinsessan Estelles Kulturstiftelse.<\/p>\n
