Liljevalch’s Spring Salon 2023

The Spring Salon at Liljevalch’s is a dear, contentious and lively tradition since its inception in 1921. The spring salon is a jury-judged exhibition where all works are for sale and the price is set by the participants themselves.

This year 4,135 people applied to Liljevalch’s Spring Salon, which is a new record. Only once before has the number of applicants exceeded 4000.

As in previous years, women dominated among the applicants and the selection includes a mix of techniques, ranging from painting, drawing and sculpture to installation, video and AI-generated art. Painting is the most common technique, including mixed media painting.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue in which each exhibitor is presented with a work. From the day of the opening, the artists’ own texts about their work will be available on Liljevalch’s website.

This year’s jury consisted of art scholar Isabella Nilsson, artist Jockum Nordström, and jury chairman Isak Nilson, deputy director of Liljevalchs art gallery. The Spring Salon starts on February 24 and will be on display until April 23, find out more information about Liljevalch’s Spring Salon here.
