Princess Estelle’s Sculpture Park on Royal Djurgården continues to grow and will have its fourth permanent sculpture this summer. Following works by international artists Alice Aycock, Elmgreen & Dragset and Yinka Shonibare CBE, the Foundation has chosen to present a Swedish artist for the first time. A new sculpture by Charlotte Gyllenhammar will be inaugurated on June 1st 2023.

Charlotte Gyllenhammar was born in Gothenburg in 1963 and studied at the Royal College of Art in Stockholm and the Royal College of Art in London. Over the years she has worked in various media including painting, photography, installation, film and sculpture. During her career she has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, has carried out numerous public commissions and is today considered one of our country’s best-known and most successful artists. This autumn, she is presenting a major solo exhibition at Prince Eugene’s Waldermarsudde on Royal Djurgården, on view from November 12th to March 26 2023.

The choice of artist is made by the board of Princess Estelle’s Cultural Foundation, which is assisted by an artistic council consisting of Richard Julin, artistic director of Accelerator in Stockholm, Lars Nittve, former director of Tate Modern in London, Moderna Museet in Stockholm and M+ in Hong Kong, and Ann-Sofi Noring, member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and former deputy director of Modern art Museum in Stockholm.
