The Baltic Sea is our shared sea
Its brackish waters – a mixture of fresh and salt water – have created a unique environment where species have adapted to a habitat found nowhere else in the world. We know that the sea is under severe pressure from eutrophication, dead seabeds, marine litter, overfishing, pollutants and climate change. We also know that change is possible.
Baltic Sea Week is a new initiative with the message “Celebrate the sea, save the sea”, bringing together Djurgården’s museums, restaurants and knowledge-based organisations. Through food experiences, talks, family activities, exhibitions and culture, we want to inspire engagement and highlight examples of how we can work together to create a healthier sea.
The Baltic Sea Week begins on Djurgården and takes place 27 August–2 September.
Welcome!
