Double the Thrill: Gröna Lund Takes Home Two European Star Awards

We are so happy for Gröna Lund!

Once again, they have secured a top position on the European amusement park map. At this year’s prestigious European Star Awards in Barcelona, the park was awarded two top honors.

Ikaros claimed first place in the category Best European Thrill Ride – for the second year in a row.

Since its inauguration in 2017, Ikaros has become a must for adrenaline seekers, thanks to its unique tilting drop mechanism.

Pumpen, Gröna Lund’s 2025 novelty, won third place in the category Europe’s Best New Big Attractions.

The new family-friendly yet exhilarating experience has become an instant success. Pumpen, is only the second attraction of its kind in the world – and the first in Northern Europe. It is a giant swing with pumping and pendulum-like motions that create sensations of weightlessness, speed, and free fall.

We’re thrilled for the entire team, who continue to strengthen Gröna Lund’s position as one of Europe’s most innovative amusement parks.

If you didn’t get the chance to try out Pumpen this season, or are seeking an adrenaline thrill with Ikaros you still have a chance. The attractions will be open during Halloween at Gröna Lund – and we can’t think of a better time of the year to let out a little scream as the park transforms to spooky for Halloween.

Check out their schedule here.

Backstage Hotel – your base in Stockholm

We love Backstage Hotel – and we think more people should discover it. It’s really simple: everyone should consider Royal Djurgården, Stockholm’s central park, as their base when visiting the city. Here, culture, city life, water, and greenery come together. With Backstage Hotel as your starting point, everything is within reach – and the hotel itself is full of personality.

Backstage Hotel Stockholm has now joined the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Lifestyle Collection, one of the world’s most prestigious networks of independent hotels. This membership places the hotel alongside iconic lifestyle properties in cities like Washington D.C., Berlin, and Oslo.

Opened in 2022, Backstage Hotel features 57 individually designed rooms inspired by music and performing arts. Located in the heart of Djurgården, it is neighbors with Cirkus, Hasselbacken, and ABBA The Museum. From here, guests are just steps away from some of Stockholm’s most famous attractions, including the Vasa Museum, the Nordic Museum, and the amusement park Gröna Lund.

“Our hotel, located in Stockholm’s Central Park, fits perfectly into the Lifestyle Collection. Here, our guests have the best possible starting point to experience the city and everything it has to offer,” says Satu Andersson, CEO of Cirkus Venues.

As part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Backstage Hotel is also included in the global loyalty program I Prefer Hotel Rewards, with over 6 million members worldwide. This gives even more international travelers the opportunity to discover that Stockholm – and especially Djurgården – is the perfect base for exploring the city.

Coffee, Buns & Bicycles – Sthlm Bike at Djurgården

Cyklister över Djurgårdsbron en tidig morgon.

Every September, thousands of cyclists come together for Sthlm Bike 2025, a joyful ride through car-free Stockholm. From bridges to waterfronts, the city is best experienced from the saddle – and everyone is welcome, no matter age, bike type, or background. The riders set off at 7:30, and we expect the first cyclists to cross Djurgårdsbrunn around 8:00. They’ll weave their way across the island before continuing over Djurgårdsbron and onward through the city. The early start means little to no impact on traffic, and everything will be wrapped up by the time our museums even open!  What better way to begin a Sunday? Grab a coffee and a cinnamon bun from one of our cafes and cheer on thousands of happy cyclists. Then set off on your own adventure and explore all our beloved island has to offer.

While we expect minimal impact on traffic here on the island, remember the ride covers 45 km through the city. If you need to get somewhere on time while the event is rolling, check out the map and see this years route. If you have further questions call Sthlm Bike at 0708-809810 and they’ll help you find the best route.
