Welcome to the Apple Festival on Royal Djurgården

This autumn, Royal Djurgården comes alive with the scent of apples, harvest season and wonderful experiences as the Apple Festival celebrates its fourth year. From 23–27 September, more than 20 of Djurgården’s restaurants, museums, gardens and other attractions invite visitors to a shared celebration of all things apple.

Apples have a special place in Djurgården’s history. More than 120 of Sweden’s 240 known apple varieties can be found here, many growing on trees that date back to the 19th century. During the Apple Festival, you can discover this unique apple heritage through flavours, stories, guided tours and activities.

At Rosendals Trädgård, the historic orchard takes centre stage during Rosendal’s Apple Weekend, 25–27 September. At the Nordic Museum, you can have apples from your own garden identified, while the Spritmuseum celebrates Swedish cider producers with Cider Sunday. At Skansen, apples are part of the traditional Autumn Market, and restaurants and cafés across Djurgården will be serving apple-inspired menus, pastries and freshly pressed juice.

There is plenty for younger visitors too. Junibacken invites children to enjoy a reading of The Story of the Red Apple, while Vrak – Museum of Wrecks tells the story of the apple-named warship that was built as a sister ship to the Vasa.

The Apple Festival is a shared celebration of Djurgården’s gardens, cultural heritage and food traditions – and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy one of autumn’s most delicious harvests.
