Swedish National Maritime Museum – Paddle! On display until 31 December
Activate both body and mind and step into the world of paddling. Explore different environments, from peaceful forest lakes to the open sea. Try packing a kayak, challenge your balance or step inside a tent and let the sounds of nature take over.
Discover stories of people who have paddled for freedom, community and personal challenge, and find practical tips and inspiration for your own next adventure. Paddle! is an exhibition for everyone, regardless of experience.
Handarbetets Vänner – Lace at the Palace, 20 August–13 September
Discover the fascinating world of lace in an exhibition where tradition meets contemporary craftsmanship. Lace at the Palace comes to Handarbetets Vänner after being shown at Vadstena Castle in 2025.
The exhibition features works by former students of HV School as well as contributions from Konstfack. Around thirty lace makers have also created the collective work Triangulation in collaboration with artist Ulrika Mårtensson Hanje. During the exhibition, you can also see lace making demonstrations by participating makers.
Konsthall 16 – Nadja Hallström, Mustang/Queens, 6 October–24 January 2027
Discover photographer Nadja Hallström’s personal exploration of horses, people and places. From a stable in Queens, in the midst of a tough and vulnerable neighbourhood, to the open landscapes where America’s wild mustangs roam.
Through intimate portraits, Hallström captures encounters between people and animals, exploring themes of beauty, strength and vulnerability. An exhibition that invites both emotion and reflection.
Thielska Galleriet – On the Descendant, curated by Lars von Trier, 10 October–24 January 2027
What happens when one of today’s most acclaimed filmmakers steps into the world of the museum? Lars von Trier has curated On the Shoulders of Others, an exhibition opening at Thielska Galleriet this autumn.

Waldemarsudde – Wonderful Colour, 3 October–28 February
Discover Gothenburg in colour! Travel back to 1930s Gothenburg and enter the vibrant world of the Gothenburg Colourists. With bold colours, expressive brushstrokes and a keen sensitivity to light and atmosphere, they created paintings filled with energy and emotion.
Experience Gothenburg, the landscapes of Sweden’s west coast and the human figure through the artists’ personal perspectives, in a style of painting that continues to resonate with life and intensity.
